The World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), the global industry association for regulated exchanges, today announced the appointment of Gavin Hill as Head of Regulatory Affairs.
Gavin joins London-based WFE from the Financial Conduct Authority, the U.K. securities regulator, where he has worked for the past 14 years. Since 2006 he has been a manager in the Markets and Supervision Divisions of the regulator, supervising equities, derivatives and commodities exchanges.
Gavin is also a member of the Euronext College of Regulators' Steering Committee and Chairman's Committee and has been responsible for the operational running and strategic leadership of the FCA's commodity policy agenda.
His appointment is the second key external WFE hire this year. In June, David Thomas joined as Head of Communications. David headed up UK media relations and government affairs for Deutsche Börse and was senior spokesperson at Clearstream.
"The addition of Gavin will significantly strengthen the WFE team and reinforce its regulatory capacity and institutional knowledge as well as its City of London stakeholder network at a key time for the organization following its relocation to London," said WFE CEO Nandini Sukumar. "As exchanges globally come together to work with stakeholders on the common issues we face and to push for fair, transparent and orderly markets, he brings much-needed perspective. The latter will greatly assist WFE in getting its message across."
Hill starts work at WFE on September 21. The appointment is the 2nd key 2015 hire as WFE builds capacity at London HQ
